IND vs SCO: Jasprit Bumrah surpasses Yuzvendra Chahal to become leading wicket taker for India in T20Is

India’s pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah on Friday overtook Yuzvendra Chahal to become India’s leading wicket-taker in the shortest format of the game. Bumrah has now picked up 64 wickets in 54 T20I matches. He accounted for two wickets in the ongoing match against Scotland in ICC men’s T20 World Cup here at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Friday to achieve the feat. Earlier, Yuzvendra Chahal was the leading wicket-taker for India in T20Is.

Prior to the clash against Scotland, Jasprit Bumrah was one wicket behind from Yuzvendra Chahal. He provided an early breakthrough to India by removing Scotland skipper Kylie Coetzer in his second over & also equaled Yuzvendra Chahal’s record of 63 wickets in T20Is.

Returning to bowl at the death overs, Bumrah then removed Mark Watt in the 18th over and went ahead of Yuzvendra Chahal in terms of most wickets for India. Bumrah returned with 2-10 in his 3.4 overs.

Spinner Ravichandran Ashwin is third in the list with 55 wickets under his belt as Bumrah tops the chart with 64 scalps for India.

Jasprit Bumrah also has most maiden overs in men’s T20Is. The India pacer has bowled 8 maiden overs while former Sri Lanka bowler Nuwan Kulasekara and Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman have bowled six maidens.

Bangladesh star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan is the leading wicket in T20Is. He surpassed Sri Lankan pace legend Lasith Malinga to take most wickets in T20Is in the ongoing T20 World Cup and has picked up 117 wickets in 94 matches.

Lasith Malinga is second in the list with 107 wickets in 84 matches while New Zealand’s pacer Tim Southee is not behind him at number 03 with 104 wickets in 57 matches.
