BCCI may have appointed MS Dhoni as the mentor Virat Kohli & Co in the upcoming T20 World Cup but the CSK skipper has already donned the role in IPL. Be it providing guidance to youngsters or advising Kohli himself, he hasn’t shied away from sharing his ‘world of knowledge’.
In a special post for Thala Dhoni, Chennai Super Kings shared a video, paying tribute to MS Dhoni, the mentor.

On Wednesday, BCCI secretary Jay Shah revealed that MS Dhoni will return to Team India but as a mentor for the T20 World Cup. While he didn’t reveal the reason, it was a pleasant surprise for some of the cricketers.
“Spoke to Dhoni when I was in Dubai. Agreed to be a mentor for T20 World Cup only. Captain, vice-captain and the head coach were consulted and which is why Dhoni is on board,” BCCI Secretary Jay Shah said.
“It’s an absolute surprise, a very very pleasant one. We will again have him (Dhoni) in our dressing room, it’s kind of a dream. His experience, calmness, presence will really help the squad during crunch matches & situations in the World Cup,” a Team India member told InsideSport.
Although his role could clash with head coach Ravi Shastri, BCCI president Sourav Ganguly believes he could use his experience to help the players during T20 World Cup.
However, many of BCCI top brass had no idea whether MS Dhoni would agree to come on board.
“No, we did not have an idea about this. Dhoni’s inclusion came in as a pleasant surprise. I spoke to Secretary later & congratulated him on the move. Dhoni’s presence in the dressing room can work wonders for this team. All credit to Jay Shah for making it work,” disclosed one of the top BCCI officials.
