IPL 2021: CSK’s Ambati Rayudu takes inspiration from MI’s Rohit Sharma, hits string of flick shot sixes during practice sessions- Watch video

Preparations for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are on its full swing ahead of their IPL 2021 Phase 2 opening contest against Mumbai Indians on September 19 in Dubai. Recently in a video shared by CSK on Twitter, their middle-order batsman Ambati Rayudu was seen hitting a string of flick shot sixes during CSK’s practice match in ‘The Sevens Stadium’ in UAE. Clearly, with the barrage of over-the-rope flick shots, Rayudu seems to be inspired by Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma who is also known for his fine flick shots.

In the minute and a half long video, the right-handed batsman fully exploited the bowlers with his blazing form as he smashed almost every second ball for the boundary. The 35-year old aimed to strengthen his leg side as he hit smashing hits off his leg.

Right from pull shots, deep mid-wicket, mid-on and flick shots, Rayudu smashed a variety of shots from his willow. This way, he gave Rohit Sharma a tough competition, who remains to be one of the strongest players of the wrist and especially the leg side.

In the video, CSK’s bowling coach Lakshmipathy Balaji hailed CSK’s batsmen- Suresh Raina and Ambati Rayudu for their fine touch. “Couple of them have looked really good. Rayudu and looked really great with their batting flows and everything.”

Ambati Rayudu has been a part of the yellow brigade since 2018. He has been a key performer in CSK’s batting lineup.
