IPL 2021: Delhi Capitals’ Shikhar Dhawan leads run scorer charter ahead of second phase of tournament

No wonder the high scoring contests of the IPL are exciting because of the quick knocks from the talented batsmen of various franchises. Often the orange cap- an honour given to the leading run-scorer in the IPL is seen juggling among many batting greats. Currently, at the end of the first phase of IPL in India, Delhi Capitals’ Shikhar Dhawan was the highest run-getter in the tournament so far.

The left-handed opener for Delhi Capitals, Dhawan smashed 380 runs in 8 innings with an average of 54.28. He holds a good strike rate of 134.27. Moreover, he has smashed three fifties in the tournament so far.

He was in hot form in the previous season (IPL 2020 in UAE) as well where he amassed 618 runs across 17 innings he played. He averaged 44.14, smashed two hundreds and four fifties for his side. In IPL 2020, he finished second on the list of most runs in an IPL season.

With 331 runs, KL Rahul of Punjab Kings is sitting second in the list of top run-scorers whilst Chennai Super Kings’ Faf du Plessis is not too behind at number 3 with 320 runs.
