BCCI President Sourav Ganguly invited PCB chief Ramiz Raja to attend the IPL 2021 Final between Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders, as per a report from cricketpakistan.com.pk
The report further added that the invitation was extended on the sidelines of Asian Cricket Council’s Executive Board meeting on Friday. Ganguly and Raja discussed areas of mutual interest during the meeting. Unfortunately, Raza couldn’t attend the IPL 2021 final.
The IPL 2021 final is taking place at the iconic Dubai International stadium where arch-rivals India and Pakistan will play against each other in T20 World Cup on October 24.
Last month, Raja revealed that PCB will get a blank cheque for Pakistan if they beat India in T20 WC.
“One strong investor told me that a blank cheque is ready for the PCB if Pakistan beats India in the upcoming T20 World Cup,” Raza declared.
“PCB runs 50 per cent on the funding of ICC. 90 per cent of funding to ICC comes from India. I’m afraid that if India stopped funding ICC, then PCB might collapse because PCB gives zero percent funding to ICC. I’m determined to make Pakistan cricket strong,” Cricket Pakistan quoted Ramiz Raja as saying.
India will face off Pakistan after a gap of almost a couple of years. They had last met against each other in 2019 World Cup in October. The political differences with heightened tensions at the borders have barred bilateral series between India and Pakistan.
Pakistan have never defeated Indian in T20 World Cup. They would look to get one time lucky in their 5th attempt.
When it comes to IPL, Pakistan players have not taken part in IPL for more than a decade.
