KL Rahul on Friday smashed a gutsy fifty as Punjab Kings defeated Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by five wickets. He scored 67 runs off just 42 balls that comprised 4 boundaries and a couple of sixes. What comes as a blessing in disguise, the 29-year-old is in red-hot form for the upcoming T20 World Cup. He has already slammed a couple of fifties in the UAE leg of IPL 2021. The right-handed batsman will look to carry his sensational form in the T20 WC.
His timely innings guided Punjab Kings much-need win against Kolkata Knight Riders to stay alive in the tournament. PBKS now need to win their final two matches on a trot to contest the 4th spot in IPL 2021 points table.
“I’ll take the two points (heaves a huge sigh). We played it smartly. Realised it was a decent wicket and can’t experiment too much. Went slightly defensive with the ball. Wasn’t much spin. Wanted to make the batters hit to the bigger side. The weather’s not been too kind coming straight from England. The win will give us confidence and hopefully we’ll build on it,” KL Rahul said post-match.
