IPL 2021: Kieron Pollard picks top 5 T20 players of all time, check who is the only Indian in the list

With ICC T20 World Cup starting next week, the International Cricket Council (ICC) is building up the excitement around the tournament through its social media accounts. ICC released a video post on its Twitter handle today in which West Indies T20 captain Kieron Pollard has picked his top five T20 players of all time. The list contains three players from West Indies while one player each from India and Sri Lanka.

In the video posted by ICC, Kieron Pollard is asked: “First 5 players you’d pick in a World T20 Cup XI, and why?”

Top 5 T20 players of all time – Batsman – The Windies T20 Captain started out with picking Christopher Henry Gayle – The Universe Boss as his first pick.  “Firstly, Christopher Henry Gayle, Universe Boss. Over fourteen thousand runs in T20 cricket with 22 centuries. Definitely number 1,” Pollard said in the video.

Top 5 T20 players of all time – Pacer – Pollard then named Sri Lankan bowling legend Lasith Malinga – The King of Yorkers as his second choice top 5 T20 players of all time. Lasith Malinga recently hung his boots from all forms of cricket.

Top 5 T20 players of all time – Spinner –Kieron Pollard then went on to name a spinner in his side in Sunil Narine. “Again, the king of spin. He started it off, bowling in the powerplay and bowling in the end. He has been fantastic,” the Windies T20 skipper said.

Top 5 T20 players of all time – Wicket-keeper- Satisfied with batting, bowling, and spin option, Kieron Pollard then went out to pick a wicketkeeping and batting sort of player to bring the balance to his side. He chose former India skipper MS Dhoni as his choice for wicket-keeper-batter. “So, now I have to take care of my wicket-keeping and batting sort of position. I will go with MS Dhoni. Great thinker, great finisher, feared batter in the back end,” Pollard said in the video.

Top 5 T20 players of all time – All-rounder – For the fifth and final spot, Pollard went on to name himself saying that his record in T20 cricket speaks for itself. “Number 5, if it’s my world XI T20 then I got to be there, I’ve got to play. I will be number 5 and my record speaks for itself when it comes to T20 cricket,” he said.

Kieron Pollard also went on to say that his fellow national side player and friend Dwayne Bravo is very close to his top 5 picks. “That’s my 5 and Bravo, yes he is there and thereabouts. There are only five for now but remember a team is made up of 11,” he concluded.
