IPL 2021: Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma ready to create ’Sixes Record’ in CSK vs MI match

The most successful captain in IPL history- Rohit Sharma is likely to set yet another record during CSK vs MI clash on September 19 in Dubai. Mumbai Indians skipper has a chance to claim a record which no other Indian batsman currently has. In the opening match of the second phase of IPL 2021 in UAE, Rohit could become the first Indian batsman in the history of T20 cricket to breach the 400-six mark in the shortest format.

The 34-year old currently has 397 sixes in the T20 format. He is just three sixes short to achieve the elusive feat. In fact, the rest of the Indian players are not even close to Sharma in the race of hitting sixes when it comes to this record.

Only four players have hit 300 sixes in T20 cricket. The Indian players are as follows-

Virat Kohli (RCB)- 315

MS Dhoni (CSK)- 303

On the overall front, Sharma is the eighth batsmen in the world on the list of batsmen with most sixes in T20 format. The list is led by Chris Gayle, ]Kieron Pollard, Andre Russell, Brendon McCullum, Shane Watson, AB de Villiers and Aaron Finch.
