IPL 2021: No KL Rahul but Punjab Kings begin training in UAE ahead of IPL Phase 2; Watch video

KL Rahul’s Punjab Kings undertook its first training session after successfully completing its mandatory quarantine at Crowne Plaza Dubai Festival City. On Sunday, the red brigade had its first session at ICC Academy, Dubai ahead of the second leg of IPL 2021. PKBS shared a video of their training session with the fans on their official Instagram account.

The video commenced featuring Anil Kumble and Wasim Jaffer engaged in a discussion as the two charted out the training plans for the boys.

“We need to do as a team and what you all need to do as an individual. The attitude we need to show is to train to our hundred percent,” Kumble motivated the Punjab players.

Besides, performing warm-up exercises, the players were seen taking running drills. The team practices a little in the nets and Kumble gave catching practice to the players.

Meanwhile, PKBS batting coach Jaffer mentioned their plan to initially acclimatize to the hot UAE conditions and then gradually increase the workload.

“We are just taking it easy. Just want to get used to the conditions, get used to the heat. We’ve been in quarantine for six days, so it’s not right for us to push them straightaway. So, just getting them easy and getting used to the atmosphere and the conditions. Hopefully, after 2-3 days, we will be back to hundred percent,” Jaffer said.

The franchisee had arrived in UAE on August 29.
