IPL 2021 Orange Cap: Virat Kohli & Rohit Sharma enter top 10 list, Ruturaj Gaikwad jumps to top 5

RCB captain Virat Kohli on Sunday jumped to the top 10 of the Orange Cap table. He entered the list after his sensational knock against Mumbai Indians. In doing so, he became only the fifth player to achieve 10,000 T20 runs. The 32-year-old joins Punjab Kings opener Chris Gayle, MI allrounder Kieron Pollard, Pakistan’s Shoaib Malik and SRH’s David Warner on the elite list. Kohli achieved the special feat by smashing a six off MI pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah. He has also completed 300+ runs in IPL 2021.

Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma has entered the top 10 list with 300+ runs in IPL 2021. He achieved the feat while batting against Virat Kohli’s RCB. He will look to guide defending champions Mumbai Indians back to winning ways after languishing in the bottom half of the points table. He could also become the first batsman from India to complete 400 sixes in the T20s and needs 3 sixes to achieve the landmark.

Earlier on Sunday, Chennai Super Kings opener Ruturaj Gaikwad jumped to top 5 places in latest IPL 2021 Orange Cap table. He has overtaken Mayank Agarwal of Punjab Kings to take the 5th spot. The youngster has been rock solid in the tournament with already a match-winning innings against Mumbai Indians in Phase 2 opener. He has amassed 300+ runs in the tournament with three fifties to his name.

Kolkata Knight Riders batsman Rahul Tripathi also broke into the top list for Orange Cup. He has overtaken DC’s Rishabh Pant to after his exceptional 45 runs innings against MS Dhoni’s CSK. The right-handed batsman is in phenomenal form in Phase 2. He has an average of 40+ and strike rate of 146+. He played a match-winning knock in the previous match against MI.

Notably, Shikhar Dhawan continues to top the leaderboard, He has amassed over 400+ runs in the tournament and is the only player in IPL 2021 to breach the above mark. He has scored as many as three fifties in the tournament. His phenomenal average is 45+ & his strike rate stands at 131+.

Rules for IPL 2021 Orange Cap

  • The Orange Cap is offered to the leading run-scorer of the season.
  • The batsman with the most runs in the tournament during the season would wear the Orange Cap while in the field.
  • In case of a tie, the batsman with a better strike rate is awarded the Orange Cap.
  • The Orange Cap owner who is fielding is allowed to wear the Orange Cap till the end of the innings even if an opposition batsman has overtaken his runs.
