Punjab Kings suffered a big blow just eight days ahead of the second phase of IPL 2021 as their star player Dawid Malan pulled out of the tournament. No sooner the England player made himself unavailable for the second leg, the red brigade roped in South African batsman Aiden Markram in their side.

âMarkram will replace Dawid Malan who is taking some time off to be with his family before the T20 World Cup and the Ashes Series,â Punjab Kings said in a statement.
Malan, who played his inaugural edition of IPL this season was bought by the PKBS for INR 1.5 cr during the auction. In the first leg, however, the explosive batsman played just one match for the team where he scored 26 runs.
PKBS recent recruit Aiden Markram of South Africa is equally a competent batsman who would be playing his inaugural edition in the second phase of IPL 2021. The 26-year old has a fine T20 record. He has played 52 innings, amassed 1403 runs and returned with an average of 30.50.
Punjab Kings finished third from bottom in the IPL 2020 edition with just six wins in the group round.
