IPL 2021: Punjab Kings sign England spinner Adil Rashid for second phase of IPL 2021 in UAE

KL Rahul led Punjab Kings have roped in England spinner Adil Rashid for the remaining matches of IPL 2021 in UAE. Rashid has come in as a replacement for Australian pacer Jhye Richardson. Earlier, the red brigade had signed Australian fast bowler Nathan Ellis for Riley Meredith.

The England spinner had gone unsold in the IPL 2021 auction for a base price of Rs 1.5 crore.

In his recent stint in the inaugural edition of the Hundred tournament, Adil Rashid emerged with flying colours. While playing for Northern Superchargers he picked up 12 wickets from seven games with the best figure of 3/12.

The Australian speedster- Jhye Richardson, who is unavailable for the remaining matches, was the fourth most expensive player sold at the IPL 2021 auction for INR 14 crore. However, he was quite unimpressive with the ball in the first leg as he played only three matches and picked as many wickets at a high economy rate of 10.63.
