Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) Harshal Patel extended his lead at the top with two wickets against CSK on Friday. In 9 matches, he has 19 wickets and is leading the IPL 2021 Purple Cap leaderboard.
Despite RCB’s loss, Harshal Patel managed to scalp two wickets in exchange for 25 runs in 3.1 overs. While his two important wickets of Moeen Ali and Ambati Rayudu did ease the pressure, in the end, it was not enough for RCB to win the match as Virat Kohli’s men suffered a 6-wicket loss at Sharjah.
Earlier, CSK’s Deepak Chahar entered top 10 with a wicket. It wasn’t his day but Chennai Super Kings’ Deepak Chahar did enough to manage a wicket and enter the Top-10 list of IPL 2021 Purple Cap race. His 1/35 against Royal Challengers Bangalore was enough to see him enter Top 10. Deepak Chahar is currently at the 8th spot with 11 wickets from 9 matches, tied with five other players.
On Thursday, a sensational bowling performance from Jasprit Bumrah has helped him break into top list in IPL 2021 Purple Cap list. He took three wickets against KKR to complete 11 wickets and take the 7th spot in IPL 2021 Points Table.
Earlier, Kolkata Knight Riders bowler Prasidh Krishna announced his arrival in Purple Cap’s top 10 spots. He took a couple of wickets against Mumbai Indians. The youngster took the prize wicket of in-form Quinton de Kock and dangerous SuryaKumar Yadav. As a result, he now has 11 wickets from nine matches at an economy rate of 9 rpo.
Meanwhile, RCB’s Harshal Patel continues to lead IPL 2021 Purple Cap. he has taken 17 wickets in the tournament. Others in the top 5 list are DC’s Avesh Khan, RR allrounder Chris Morris (14 wickets each), Punjab Kings’ Arshdeep Singh (12) and Rashid Khan of SRH (11). The same figure has been shared by Rahul Chahar, Mohd Shami, and Kagiso Rabada.
Rules for IPL Purple Cap:
- The Purple Cap is offered to the leading wicket-taker of the season.
- The bowler with the most wickets in the tournament during the season would wear the Purple Cap while in the field.
- In case of a tie, the Purple Cap is given to the bowler with a superior economy rate.
