IPL 2021 Purple Cap: Harshal Patel takes hat-trick, extends lead at top of table; Jasprit Bumrah enters top 3

Purple Cap holder Harshal Patel on Sunday added another feather to his cap. He took an incredible hat-trick against MI in the 17th over of the match. Harshal Patel (4-17) starred with the ball for RCB as the 30-year-old dismissed Hardik Pandya, Kieron Pollard and Rahul Chahar on three consecutive deliveries.

He has now taken 23 wickets in 10 matches and 8 wickets ahead of second-placed Avesh Khan of Delhi Capitals. Harshal Patel is only the third player to take a hat-trick for Royal Challengers Bangalore, Others on the list are Praveen Kumar and Samuel Badree. His sensational bowling performance helped RCB stay on top of the IPL 2021 Points Table.

Meanwhile, Jasprit Bumrah has jumped to the top 3 in the latest IPL 2021 Purple Cap table. He took 3 wickets against Royal Challengers Bangalore to complete 14 wickets in the Purple Cap list. He is now only behind RCB’s Harshal Patel and Avesh Khan of DC. He took the crucial wickets of AB de Villiers, Glenn Maxwell and Devdutt Padikkal as MI eyes to return to winnings ways and make gains in IPL 2021 Points Table.

After CSK’s Deepak Chahar entered Top 10 of Purple Cap race, KKR’s Prasidh Krishna and Varun Chakravarthy toppled him to enter the race on Sunday. If Chahar has taken 11 wickets this IPL 2021, Prasidh Krishna has managed 1 better to be at 8th place with 12 wickets. Chakravarthy also has 11 wickets to his name.

  • The Purple Cap is offered to the leading wicket-taker of the season.
  • The bowler with the most wickets in the tournament during the season would wear the Purple Cap while in the field.
  • In case of a tie, the Purple Cap is given to the bowler with a superior economy rate.
