IPL 2021 Purple Cap: RCB’s Harshal Patel scripts history, takes most wickets in IPL season

Royal Challengers Bangalore’s might have failed to end their season with a victory but rising superstar Harshal Patel has become the highest wicket-taker in an IPL season. He has joined Dwayne Bravo on the elite list with 32 wickets- most in an IPL season.

With 32 wickets in 15 matches, Harshal Patel has also surpassed the previous record for most wickets in a single season held by an Indian bowler. Jasprit Bumrah had taken 27 wickets in the IPL 2020 edition in UAE.

He equalled Dwayne Bravo’s record of 32 wickets which is all-time record in IPL. The CSK Talisman had achieved the landmark in 2013.

Delhi Capitals pacer Avesh Khan was also found of the season for the franchise. He took 23 wickets in 15 matches and was rewarded for his magnificence. He has joined Harshal Patel to become India’s net bowler for the upcoming T20 World Cup. He bowled at a splendid economy rate of 7.5 in the cash-rich league.

Mumbai Indians pace spearhead Bumrah returned with 21 wickets in the IPL 2021 season. His partner Mohd Shami also scalped 19 wickets in 14 matches. The duo has been in magnificent form ahead of the T20 World Cup. India will be hopeful of their best outing in the showpiece event.

And, you can’t have an IPL 2021 Purple Cap list without Afghanistan’s superhero Rashid Khan. The SRH spinner once again put a web around batsmen to feature in the top 5 list with 18 wickets.

Harshal Patel also took a hat-trick this IPL. He had achieved the landmark against MI. He will look to guide RCB to the maiden IPL title with his sensational spells.
