Varun Chakaravarthy on Tuesday took as many as three wickets as RCB were reduced to an embarrassing total of 92. He gave away just 13 runs in his quota of 4 overs and took the crucial wicket of Glenn Maxwell. The latter could have changed the prospect of the game. The spinner was excellent with the ball and bowled one of the economical performances of IPL 2021. With his impressive bowling, he also justified his place in the T20 World Cup.
“Kudos to the whole bowling unit, it was a very disciplined bowling performance. I’m happy to do whatever the coach and the captain want me to do, be it bowling the first over or come back later. We did work a lot even during the last phase, credit goes to the team management. The plan was to attack the stumps, the ball was doing a bit initially, now it has flattened, so we just stuck to our plans,” Varun Chakaravarthy said after his terrific batting.
With those three wickets, Varun Chakaravarthy has jumped to the top 6 in IPL 2021 purple Cap leaderboard. He has now taken 10 wickets in 8 matches at an economy rate of 7.25 rpo.
