IPL 2022: After RCB, Ravi Shastri gets offer from Ahemdabad franchise for coaching director’s role

Two weeks back we reported that India’s outgoing coach Ravi Shastri will be in big demand for coaching roles with the IPL franchises. After a approach from RCB, now it is being reported that the owners of new franchise from Ahmedabad has made a approach to Shastri for a coaching role.

According to a report by Cricbuzz, Shastri and some of the other outgoing support staff members currently with the Indian team are approached by CVC Ventures to join the team for the forthcoming season.

The report further says that Shastri who is busy with India’s world cup campaign has sought time till the end of the tournament to decide on the approach.

We had earlier reported that even Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) are interested in engaging Shastri to join the team for the new season.

Former skipper of RCB Virat Kohli & Shastri enjoys great bond & respect for each other. Though Kohli this year has given up on the RCB’s captaincy, ‘he stays very committed to the franchise & will continue as a player’. RCB has never won a IPL in 14 years, so can Kohli – Shastri unite to take RCB for IPL glory?

“Nothing can be ruled out in future, but at this stage it will be mere speculation to say that Shastri can join RCB bandwagon for IPL 2022. No such conversation has been explored”, one of the top official with the concerned franchise told us in the last week of October.

“Who would like to miss an opportunity to engage multi-faceted, result-oriented name like Shastri. He will be the target for any franchise looking to revamp their coaching staff”, declared official who is part of the management team of one of the existing franchise.

IPL 2022 is just 5 months away & Shastri after taking a breather is likely to either explore a coaching stint with the IPL team or can go back to television as a commentator according to the report.

“He’ll be selective. He’ll be open to working with an IPL franchise. Year-round travel is something he would like to avoid now,” the report by TOI quoted source close to Shastri when asked about his next move.

It is worth noting that Shastri had a very successful and flourishing broadcast career before he took up the coaching role with the Indian cricket team. For almost 20 years, Shastri was one of the most noted, loved and well respected voice during the live cricket and getting associated with LIVE TELEVISION can’t be ruled out for the former Indian captain.

Not only Shastri, his other support staff members bowling coach Bharat Arun, fielding coach R Sridhar will also be in huge demand for the roles with IPL teams.
