Just a day ahead of the T20 World Cup semifinal, Pakistan stalwarts Mohammad Rizwan and Shoaib Malik have missed the training due to mild flu. Luckily, the duo has tested negative for COVID-19 along with the entire Pakistan squad. However, a final confirmation of these players in playing XI are now in jeopardy.
Both Rizwan and Malik woke up with a low fever and mild flu. They were advised to take a rest and did not take part in the training. A final decision of their availability will be taken in the morning. The two players have been key for Pakistan in their unbeaten run during the ongoing T20 World Cup. While Rizwan is the third-highest run-getter, Malik is the joint-fastest fifty scorer.
As per GEO TV, Sarfaraz Ahmed and Haider Ali might replace Shoaib Malik and Mohammad Rizwan for Pakistan in the crucial semifinal. Pakistan players will once again undergo a medical checkup ahead of the crucial semifinals against Australia.
Pakistan are heading into the match after defeating India, New Zealand, Afghanistan, Namibia and Scotland. Skipper Babar Azam has said that he is confident that Pakistan will perform well against Aussies. The two teams have locked horns 23 times with Pakistan emerging victorious 13 times. Australia have trumped Pakistan 9 times while one fixture did not yield a result.
