T20 World Cup: England rocked by injury blow, Tymal Mills ruled out

England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) on Wednesday announced that pacer Tymal Mills has been ruled out of the ongoing ICC Men’s T20 World Cup with a right thigh strain. Surrey’s Reece Topley has been added as his replacement in the squad.

Mills sustained the injury bowling in the Super 12s match against Sri Lanka on Monday in Sharjah. Results of the scan on Tuesday night revealed the extent of the injury.

The England death specialist sustained the injury after the third delivery of the 14th over against Sri Lanka and left the field limping without completing his over. Chris Woakes then completed the remaining balls of the over.

Surrey’s Reece Topley has been added to the England World Cup squad following his role as traveling reserve. However, it would be difficult for the youngster to fill in the shoes of Mills who was mighty impressive till now.

Mills straightaway impressed in the tournament opener against West Indies in his comeback game after a four-year-long wait. He returned with an impressive figure of 4-0-17-2 and complemented the other pacers pretty well.

He was also the joint highest wicket-taker for England with seven wickets from four games.
