T20 World Cup: PAK vs NZ: VVS Laxman & others shower praise on Babar Azam-led side as Pakistan becomes first team to enter semis

Babar Azam-led Pakistan became the first team to make their way into the semis after they registered a convincing 45 runs win over Namibia in Abu Dhabi and it never looked in doubt. The Men in Green are one of the two strongest contenders of the trophy this year and have sailed smoothly into the final four. Pakistan posted up a huge total of 189/2 first up, and restricted Namibia on 144/5 to set up their fourth straight win of the Super 12 stage. Soon, after Pakistan’s easy victory, former India batsman and now commentator VVS Laxman along with others took to Twitter to shower praise on Babar Azam-led side.

Mohammad Rizwan (79* off 50 balls) & Pakistan skipper Babar Azam (70 off 49) were the heroes in Pakistan’s victory. The duo also became the first pair to score five century stands in Men’s T20Is. Mohammed Hafeez also smashed 32 off 16 balls at the death while Hasan Ali, Haris Rauf, Shadab Khan & Imad Wasim picked up one wicket each.

In the end, it looked like Pakistan was too good for Namibia. Reacting to the same, VVS Laxman took to Twitter and said that Namibia gave it their best but Babar Azam led side was too good for them. Check out –

Pakistan Prime Minister and World Cup-winning captain Imran Khan too congratulated The Men In Green on their 4th consecutive victory and securing a spot in the semi-finals.

Moreover, Pakistan skipper Babar Azam too took to his Twitter handle and said although it’s a proud moment for the Pakistan team the job is not done yet.

Babar Azam also stressed on not being complacent at the toss. He said, “We are trying to test our batters. The pitch looks very good, it has something for the batters and the bowlers. We will put runs on the board and put pressure on them. We are going with the same team. It is our first game here and will look to carry the same momentum, also have asked the boys not to be complacent.”

Pakistan is still on top of the Group 2 points table, where Namibia is at the fourth spot. Meanwhile, Virat Kohli & Co will lock horns with Afghanistan tomorrow at Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi in a must-win clash to stay alive in the tournament.
