T20 World Cup: Pakistani fan threatens captain Babar Azam, ‘Won’t let you come back if you don’t beat India’

Virat Kohli’s Team India will take on arch rival’s Babar Azam’s Pakistan in their first match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 on October 24 at the Dubai International Stadium, Dubai on Sunday. Fans from both countries are always excited about this clash given the history between both countries. As Men in Green gear up for the big clash, one Pakistani fan has threatened Pakistan cricket team’s captain Babar Azam that if his side doesn’t beat India in WC then he will not be let his team come back to Pakistan.

Pakistan’s captain Babar posted a photo with his team with the caption, “Off to UAE. Your support means more than anything. Stand by your team. Keep supporting. Keep praying. Keep believing. #PakistanZindabad.” On which a fan named Rahil Bhat commented on saying, “24 October wala match jeeta dena warna gar annay nhi degay.” (If you don’t win the game on October 24 then I won’t let you come back.)

This is not the first time that the players from both countries getting harassed ahead of or after losing India vs Pakistan match. In 2019 when Team India defeated Pakistan in the 50 overs World Cup, then captain Sarfaraz Khan also had to face a lot of criticism. The captain was seen carrying his child in a mall when this harasser started recording the video and body-shamed him. Sarfaraz did not react and chose to walk away while the fan was busy taking the video.

The Pakistan cricket team was also harassed and criticised on social media for going out for dinner ahead of the India game in the 2019 WC. Earlier Shahid Afridi, Kamran Akram, Shoaib Akhtar were also harassed after losing the WC game against India. (Pakistan Cricket team)

Pakistan is yet to beat India in any World Cup fixture.
