Dinesh Lad, the coach of Rohit Sharma and Shardul Thakur, is expected the duo to play a crucial role for India in The T20 World Cup and give a perfect gift to Virat Kohli as he would be leaving the captaincy of T20Is after the showpiece event.
“We have high expectations from our team. Rohit Sharma and Shardul Thakur, I hope these two have a good match and they put in a good performance which helps the team to win. Players would not be under pressure, it is sports and these things are part and parcel. Playing for the country is a big thing. In T20, you cannot predict the outcomes of a game, but the way our team is performing, I think our team has a good chance of lifting the Cup,” Lad told ANI.
- The duo was excellent during the recently-concluded IPL 2021.
- Shardul Thakur took 15 wickets in 8 matches to help CSK lift their 4th IPL trophy.
- He was promoted from the standby list to replace DC spinner Axar Patel in the main squad.
- Rohit Sharma is the third-highest run-getter in T20Is and is set to complete 3000 runs in the shortest format. He has guided Mumbai Indians to record 5 IPL trophies.
He also felt that the presence of MS Dhoni will have a positive impact on Virat Kohli & Co.
“MS Dhoni has been a tremendous captain, he has achieved everything so he will have a big role as a mentor and it will help the team. Our players played in the IPL in Dubai so they will be used to the conditions. I am sure that Rohit will perform well, I would want that Rohit gives a good performance and he gives a perfect gift to Virat Kohli,” he added.
